The spark landed on the dry wood and slowly spread. It charred the surface and dug deeper. As it moved down into the wood it stretched out across the top as well. It reached out, skipping along the surface, leaving tiny flames in its wake. The tiny flames ate into the wood making their way to the other side, leaving blackened remnants of what only moments ago had been a solid log. The flames continued to dance across the surface, leaping to another log, stretching up higher into the air, increasing its height and heat. The logs above were now covered in flames. The logs below were being eaten by the flames. The logs on the right and left were engulfed. The crackling grew into a dull roar as the flames ravenously devoured log after log, never stopping, never satiated.
